Sports arena food is not what it used to be! Once the domain of plain hot dogs, hamburgers and cheese nachos, this expanding culinary segment is now filled with gourmet choices.
Orlando's Amway Center just rolled out a new menu of upscale items to be served at its restaurants and food windows during Magic games.
Amway Center Executive Chef Javier Rosa showcased some of his new creations during a recent taste test for Orlando Magic staffers. Some of the new fare includes pork belly sliders, shrimp flatbread, and Loaded nachos topped with chicken braised in Mexican tinga sauce.
"We marinate the chicken for 24 hours, we take it out, we grill the chicken in the charbroil grill," explains Chef Rosa.
Even the good old hot dog gets a new treatment. It's wrapped with pastrami and then topped with chorizo, crispy jalapenos, shoe string potatoes and sweet kraut. And there's a new burger of the day which changes according to the team the Magic play. This day it's a Nacho Burger for the LA Clippers.
"If they can come out and experience it, I think they'll see that we have the best food, or one of the top food offerings, of all sports," says Orlando Magic Executive Vice President Charlie Freeman.
The great news is that the food is already available and ready for Magic fans to gobble up!
