LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -

Detroit mayor-elect Mike Duggan made a trip to Lansing on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers.

Usually when Detroit officials show up in that city they have a hand out - for a hand out, but Duggan was not going there during his visit.

"I don't have any plans on that at all right now," Duggan tells Fox 2's Tim Skubick. Duggan continues, "Right now, everything having to do with finances is tied up in bankruptcy court. So there's no point in speculating until we see what comes out of bankruptcy."

Tuesday Duggan met with 10 of the 15 members of the Detroit Delegation, many of whom supported Benny Napoleon. Members of the delegation say Mayor Dave Bing did not have much of a relationship with lawmakers.

Meanwhile, Duggan continues to lobby the governor and the Detroit emergency manager for the authority to turn the city around faster than Kevyn Orr.

"Whatever authority I have to run the city depends on my ability to persuade the governor and the emergency manager that I can improve the quality of life faster than it's being improved right now. And that's the case I'm trying to make, and they're either going to buy it or they're not, and we're going to see," Duggan says.

Governor Snyder says that decision is to be worked out between Duggan and Orr directly, and recommends they work together as much as possible.
