Police: 4 arrested after girl struck by bullet in DeKalb Co.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

Authorities say four people have been arrested after a 6-year-old girl was struck by a bullet on in DeKalb County.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Meadow Glenn Village Lane around 3 p.m. on Monday. According to Mekka Parish of DeKalb County police, the girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries after the bullet struck her in the leg in the parking lot.

Originally police said that the bullet had gone through the apartment wall, but upon further investigation, they said that the girl had been outside with her mother when she was caught in the crossfire of two unknown parties.

The girl was transported to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

On Tuesday, police said three people were arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting: Leo Laster, 28; Christopher Koen, 33; Brandon Palmer, 21. Another person, 35-year-old Chimeska Jackson is charged with obstruction.

The shooting was the second of a young child in the county in less than 24 hours. On Sunday night, a 5-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after a stray bullet struck her in the shoulder.
