He's a familiar face and voice here on Fox  2 and at 97.1 The Ticket, but nobody is used to seeing Mike Valenti's face with burns on his cheek, his nose and his lip.

It happened Friday night at Bistro Joe's in Birmingham. Valenti was there with some friends for dinner and the Flaming Tomahawk was ordered, a steak prepared tableside.

"They're looking at the piece of meat and it looks great, and then the waiter takes this bottle and he squirts it on there," Valenti's attorney, Gerald Thurswell, says it was some kind of liqueur and it catches fire.

"Immediately the flames come up and burn his face. He closes his eyes, his face is on fire, he doesn't know if he's going to be able to open his eyes," Thurswell says.

Friends rushed Valenti to Beaumont Hospital where he was treated for burns to his cheek, his nose and his lip.

"It's still very, very sensitive and he's still susceptible to getting an infection," Thurswell says.

Valenti has already gone back on the air. As for Bistro Joe's, a manager told Fox 2 they are very sorry about what happened and will no longer prepare that steak tableside.
