Caught On Tape: Man Accidentally Shoots Himself On SEPTA Bus

PHILADELPHIA -

SEPTA Transit Police hope the young man in this video will get medical attention.

They say he accidentally shot himself Wednesday evening on the K bus in Germantown.

He's seen adjusting his waistband, when the weapon goes off hitting him in the hand and possibly the leg.

Officers say now that the video is out, it's important the man get help – and speak with them.

"We don't like people carrying firearms illegally on the transit system," SEPTA Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel said. "We really don't like people firing firearms on the transit system. So, it's important to us that we find this fella and advise him of his mistake."

Police are sure the young man has not gotten medical treatment, possibly because they say the gun is illegal.

Fortunately, no one else was injured.
