Funeral held for soldier killed during Kirkwood robbery

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

The 21-year-old Army reservist killed during what police describe as an attempted robbery on bike trail in the Kirkwood neighborhood was laid to rest on Saturday.

Xavier Arnold's home-going service was held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Arnold, an Army reservist, was shot and killed on a bike path in Atlanta's Kirkwood community on the day after Christmas.

Police arrested two people, 22-year-old Qutravious Palmer and a 14-year-old boy in connection to the case. The believe the teenager was gunman.

Two friends who were with Arnold at the time of the shooting were also at the hearing. One man was shot in the leg, while a woman was pushed by the suspects, but was otherwise unharmed.
