Polar vortex didn't stop CitiBike use

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Yuri Iskhakov cuts hair across the street from the CitiBike dock at the corner of East 52nd Street 2nd Avenue. From his shop window he saw New Yorkers pedaling through the polar vortex.

"I can't even stand outside and they're riding bicycle," he said.

But aside from this Turtle Bay barber we found no witnesses during our two-hour stakeout to confirm that anyone rode a bicycle through Tuesday's single-digit temperatures much less 6,669 anyones.

"It reminds me of Siberia," Yuri said.

The day after the coldest day of the year CitiBikes at this dock remained locked in place, pedals hang idle, and tires soften in the cold.

But passers-by suggest that maybe its Tuesday's bicyclists and not the bikes they allegedly rode needing to have their bells rung.
