Crews fight fire at Hooper Alexander Elementary

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

Authorities are on the scene of a fire at a former elementary school in DeKalb County.

According to DeKalb Fire, the blaze broke out around 2:30 a.m. near the 3400 block of Memorial Drive near Cooper Alexander Drive. The building is the former Hooper Alexander Elementary School which has been closed since 2008.

No injuries have been reported, at this time. The cause of the fire is unknown. Authorities say they may need to evacuate a couple of nearby homes, however there have been no reports of damage to nearby structures at this time.
