WHITPAIN TWP., Pa. -

The Whitpain Township Police Department announced today the arrest of Robert E. Sickle, Jr. for the 2012 robbery of the Blue Bell Giant Food Store.

Court documents allege that on December 4, 2012 at 11:57 PM Sickle entered the Giant Food Store on the 1700 block of Dekalb Pike in Whitpain Township and told the cashier that he had a bomb. Authorities say he displayed a device (picture attached on the right) then ordered the cashier to open the cash register drawer.

Sickle, 41 years old of the 1800 block of Pulaski Drive in Blue Bell, voluntarily turned himself into police when he learned that an arrest warrant had been issued for him in this case, the Montgomery County DA's office said.

This concludes a year-long investigation conducted by the Whitpain Township Police, they say.
