NJ Lawmakers To Convene Special Session On Bridge Scandal

Posted: Updated:
CHERRY HILL, N.J. -

New Jersey state lawmakers will convene a special session this week to look into the traffic scandal surrounding Gov. Chris Christie's administration.

So far, there is no apparent link between Christie and the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge back in September.

But the political pressure continues to build for the governor as the scandal dominated the Sunday talk shows.

Some lawmakers suggest what happened could be considered an impeachable offense.

"If it becomes known that the governor was involved, and he knew about it, and knew about the cover-up, and he was approving his actions made by his senior staff, that raises serious questions the assembly ought to look at," said Assemblyman John Wisniewski (Dem.-Sayreville).

"The reality of it is that this is a very, very serious black eye that will damage him not just with the voters but also with campaign contributors."

A Rasmussen Reports poll says 56 percent of voters believe Christie should resign if there's evidence he approved the retribution.
