What's the most popular movie in your state? A new map has the answer.

A reddit user created a map of the best movies set in every state according to its IMDB rating.

So, New York's movie? "The Godfather." Massachusetts' top flick? "The Departed." Colorado's favorite? "The Shining."

Here's a list of the top movies for our area:

  • In Pennsylvania, the highest rated movie is "The Deer Hunter." The movie came out in 1978. The story is about steelworkers in a small town outside Pittsburgh who serve in Vietnam. It stars Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken and Meryl Streep.
  • New Jersey's most highly acclaimed movie, according to IMDB, is "On The Waterfront." This movie is from 1954 and stars Marlon Brando as a longshoreman who tries to stand up to his corrupt union bosses. It takes place in Hoboken.
  • And Delaware's most popular movie is "Fight Club." The movie takes place in Wilmington, but it was not filmed there. It stars Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.

See the full map here.

Though very enlightening and educational, some people take issue with the movies listed.

A reddit user by the name of "dog_in_the_vent" disagrees with the choice for his state, " Mr. Deeds Goes to Town? Come on, Vermont, get with the times."

Another reddit user by the name of Mysteriouss wrote, "Idaho should be Napoleon Dynamite hands down."

jbw1976 wrote, "Both 'Superman' and 'The Wizard of Oz' rank higher for Kansas than 'In Cold Blood.'"
