Due to inflation and the higher costs of living, it's no secret that delivering a baby is not cheap and getting more expensive every year.

However, according to studies, where you deliver could mean the difference in thousands of dollars!

The differences are staggering, from state to state, and even hospital to hospital. Sometimes, the difference is as much as $60,000.

In California, for example, the cost for an uncomplicated delivery can range from $3,200 to up to $37,000. For a C-section, women were billed anywhere from $8,200 to $71,000, depending on what hospital that they visited.

In New Jersey, the average cost of an uncomplicated birth is $19,000. A normal C-section is $28,000. While in Illinois, an uncomplicated birth costs, on average, just $10,000, while a C-section is close to $17,000.

These figures are compiled by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and a University of California, San Francisco study.
