ATLANTA -

Good Day Atlanta is celebrating Penguin Awareness Day at the Georgia Aquarium on Friday morning.

The aquarium is unveiling the Georgia-Pacific Penguin Nursery on January 18-20 during the "Party with the Penguins" event. Since December 28, the aquarium has welcomed a number of African penguin chicks and they expect about six more by February.

Beginning this weekend, guests who participate in behind-the-scenes tours such as the "Quick Dip" and the "Sea Keepers Tour" will have the opportunity to see penguin eggs in the incubator and eventually watch the chicks become independent.

The new facility contains a penguin fledging pool and an incubation and chick rearing area.

Aquarium guests are encouraged to "dress to impress in their penguin best." Guests will also be invited to stroll down "The Waddle Walk" which is a red carpet experience, complete with photographers, penguin facts and arts and crafts.
