Ga. lawmaker proposes drug testing food stamp applicants

ATLANTA -

A state lawmaker is seeking to stop anyone who fails a drug test from getting food stamps.

Rep. Greg Morris (R-Vidalia) has drafted a bill that would require food stamp applicants to pass a drug test to receive aid.

Back in 2012, a law was passed by lawmakers and signed by Gov. Nathan Deal that require drug tests for welfare recipients, but it was never enacted after a federal court struck down a similar law in Florida.

What do you think? Should applicants have to take a drug test in order to receive food stamps? Post your thoughts on the FOX 5 Facebook page.
