University Dr. bridge closes over I-75 for emergency repairs

(WJBK) -

A crumbling bridge near Oakland University is undergoing some emergency repairs after a routine inspection of support beams uncovered severe safety problems.

MDOT says temporary supports will be installed over the next week on the University Drive bridge over I-75.

Associated closures:

+ WB University loop ramp to SB I-75
+ EB University loop ramp to NB I-75
+ I-75 exit ramps to University will be restricted to only through movement or right turns onto University Drive
+ Additional traffic restrictions may be necessary between Opdyke Road and Cross Creek Parkway

The work will affect the commute for thousands of students on Monday, so OU students, faculty and staff are advised to seek an alternate route when entering and exiting campus via University Drive.
