BELLMAWR, N.J. -

Cody Sears is a 20-year-old young man who needs help with a life-saving procedure. According to the family, Cody has advanced stage colon cancer and needs to do a costly procedure. Even though the insurance company will cover the procedure, family and friends are trying to raise money to offset any potential costs that won't be covered. The family will do whatever it takes to save Cody's life.

Even the young ones in the family are helping in any way they can. Eight-year-old niece Kamy has started making colorful looms, both as a beautiful symbol of hope and a way to play her part in helping raise money for her Uncle Cody. She's gotten requests for the looms from as far away as Texas as many people have opened their hearts to help Kamy's uncle. Cody has been bravely battling colon cancer since he was 17. He missed most of his junior and senior years of high school due to surgery and chemotherapy. He was in remission for a few years until his family learned of the sudden diagnosis of Peritoneal Carcinomatosis.

With the cancer spreading to the tissue that surrounds and protects his abdominal organs, Cody's only chance is a procedure that will cost $121,000. The 12-hour procedure will remove the tumors by soaking his entire abdomen in chemotherapy chemicals and heating it up to 107 degrees. It's called Cytoreductive Surgery. The up front cost and later costs of recovery need to be raised before January 30th, the date of the surgery. Any longer wait will put Cody into a death sentence.

Donations have come in from all over the country. Since January 17th when the Cody's Crusaders fundraiser page was started, more than 861 people have liked it. Cody's aunt Colleen Marengo wants to tell everyone that any amount of support, whether five dollars or $300, will help. They're just thankful that people are willing to give their hearts. Also, Marengo emphasizes that anyone passing along and sharing the Cody's Crusaders Facebook page will help raise awareness to both the cancer and the procedure available for colon cancer patients.

Cody's Crusaders Facebook page writes it the best:

Whatever it is that you can give will help. Cody has so much life in him, dreams in him. He is not ready to leave this world. Help us help Cody get this operation so he can grow into a man, follow his dream of having his own body shop/garage some day, get married, start a family. If we all pull together, we can give him that chance.

Here's the link for a PayPal donation. In addition, says the family, donations can be made out to: South Jersey Cares, 69 South Bell Road, Bellmawr, NJ 08031
