FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -

An employee has been arrested on a charge of public indecency following a complaint from a passenger on a train from New York City to Connecticut, according to the MTA's Metro-North Railroad.

MTA police arrested Manny Ramos, an engineer trainee, on Tuesday morning after a female passenger said he was masturbating.

Ramos, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y., fled the train when it stopped at Fairfield, said Metro-North spokeswoman Meredith Daniels. He was apprehended on a nearby street and identified by the passenger, she said.

It was not immediately known if he is represented by a lawyer. Bridgeport Superior Court said he was taken into custody by Fairfield police, who did not immediately return a call seeking information.

Ramos was suspended without pay.

Daniels said the woman was alone and was resting or possibly asleep.

It's a running joke that if you mention the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center to nearly anyone in Hollywood they're going to know exactly what you're talking about because odds are they might have gotten their first big break there. Would you believe some Hollywood's biggest stars -- Meryl Streep, Michael Douglas, Angela Bassett -- got their start in a big red barn in the middle of nowhere.

The Metro-North Railroad has sacrificed safety for on-time performance, according to a report released Wednesday by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority panel. The report echoes an assessment conducted this year by the Federal Railroad Administration, which investigated after a string of Metro-North accidents including a December 2013 derailment that killed four riders in the Bronx.
