Car Drives Into West Deptford Home

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. -

A West Deptford family got a wake up call they'll never forget this morning after a SUV plowed into the side of their house.

Two of the three people living in the house were sleeping very close to where the vehicle crashed into the home, but no one was seriously hurt.

Police said they're still investigating what caused this to happen.

"It was the loudest bang, like an explosion; do you know what I mean? It just jolted me straight up. I hear my mom scream because she doesn't know what they hell it was," said Aaron Collier.

Collier was sleeping just a few feet away from where this red Chevy Blazer slammed into his West Deptford home around 2 in the morning on the 1400 block of Lincoln Avenue.

"Everything flew off my wall, dresser, TV, cable boxes, all kinds of stuff," Collier said.

His stepfather was also asleep on a couch near the crash.

After composing himself and checking on his family, he went to see how the people in the car were doing.

"They could be hurt, went out here and checked on them, there was nobody there. The airbag was out and there was blood everywhere, but they were gone," he said.

Police said the 25-year-old passenger ran down the street to a bar with his head gashed open to get help.

A bartender told Fox 29 he seemed delirious and concerned for his friend.

They said the 21-year-old driver didn't find his way home until four hours later.

He had possible frostbite and was taken to the hospital with his friend.

"I don't know how fast he was going or if he tried to stop or what. Before these tracks were here, there was a blank spot like he caught air and then the tracks started and then he went through the wall," Collier said.

Collier says the collision left cracks all over house, the doors won't shut right and the entire home seems off kilter.

"It might just like a hole, but structurally the whole house has been compromised," he said.

He feels lucky that his family got out of the situation unscathed.

"If that partition wasn't there in my room, I could have ate a cinder block. Because all the block just flew out of the wall," he said.

Despite the damage to the house, the Colliers will be staying at their place Thursday night after code enforcement gave them the okay because the electricity and gas lines were not harmed.

Police said charges for the driver of the crash are pending.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
