“I think I certainly missed out on that experience. I remember the teams that won during my era: the Cowboys, the Niners, the Packers. Of all the things I was able to accomplish, they did not make up for that. I did everything I could to get there and it just didn’t happen," said Sanders.
The father of four sons including one who is red-shirting as a freshman for the Stanford University football team has no regrets.
"I played a lot of great years. I had seen enough and done enough in the game. It was time to move on. I had lost that zip and that drive to do that on a regular basis. I don’t regret it. It was the right decision for me," said Sanders.
And despite having left professional football about 15 years ago, Sanders is still a popular player. He was voted by football fans to be on the cover of the 25th edition of Madden EA Sports.
“It was awesome. I haven’t played so to have that response from fans and go up against current players and win that sort of competition was awesome. Even going up against other greats like Joe Montana and Ray Louis was a real thrill for me," said Sanders.
Sanders- who spends his time running several successful car dealerships- has Denver winning on Sunday.
"I’m leaning a little towards the Broncos. They have a little too much fire power," said Sanders.
