Teen files $1 million lawsuit against Charles Pugh

(WJBK) -

The teenager former Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with is suing him for a million dollars.

Friday the student's attorney filed the civil suit.

Legal filings includes more than one hundred pages of text messages between the student and Pugh.

"Predatory. One word - they were predatory. There's no question. There's nothing about these text messages that were proper, of proper conduct, between a mentor and a mentee, especially at this stage in any child's life," says the student's attorney Bill Seikaly.

When asked for a specific example of a text message, the attorney says he could not give an example that could run on TV.

The attorney did say, though, Pugh offered the student money in exchange for video of the student doing sexual acts, and that Pugh offered to continue giving money if the student continued giving videos.

Seikaly says "that's the cleanest example."

Soon after the allegations became public Pugh suddenly left the Council unannounced and disappeared. He officially resigned from office in September.

Criminal charges were not filed.

The teen is also suing former Mayor Dave Bing and the City. Seikaly says the City "has an obligation to indemnify [Pugh] under the charter."
