Arrest made following carjacking of 96-year-old woman

COCOA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A 96-year-old Merritt Island woman was the victim of a carjacking on Thursday afternoon. The woman was unharmed, and the suspect, 20-year-old Trevon A. Johnson, of Cocoa, was arrested shortly after the incident.
Deputies said the woman had just finished shopping at the Walmart, located at 1500 East Merritt Island Causeway, when she was approached by a man. The man entered the passenger side of the vehicle and ordered the woman to go to Silver Oaks Drive in Merritt Island, where he forced her out of the car and drove away.
Officers with the Cocoa Police Department later located the vehicle at a home on Bristol Drive. A man inside the home, later identified as Johnson, was seen running from the home. Cocoa police officers and a K-9 officers located and arrested Johnson, with the help from a Brevard County Sheriff's Office helicopter.
Johnson was charged with carjacking and grand theft upon arrest. He was additionally charged with an active felony warrant for violation of community control in reference a previous incident of grand theft.
Johnson is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on a no bond status.
