DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Two people have been transported to a hospital following a shooting in Daytona Beach, according a spokesperson with the Daytona Beach Police Department.

The shooting happened at a barber shop along Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. in close proximity to both Daytona State College and Bethune-Cookman University.  At present time, classes at both schools are dismissed for spring break.

The identities and conditions of the shooting victims have not been released.

Police say one man was shot in the chest and remains in critical condition at Halifax Regional Medical Center.  Investigators said the bullet passed through the first victim and struck a woman in the leg.  Her injuries are not life-threatening.

The shooting appears to be in retaliation for another shooting that occured on Monday, police say.   The shooter in Friday's incident is in custody.  Investigators said there was an existing warrant out the suspect.
