TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Winter is refusing to ease its grip on New Jersey as the southern half of the state is getting another serious snow.

The heaviest snow is reported in southern New Jersey. Most schools near the shore are closed and many inland have delayed openings.

The National Weather Service says trained spotters are reporting 6 inches in Dennis Township.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until noon Monday from Ocean County south. Forecasters say as much as 8 inches of snow are possible before it ends later in the morning.

Middlesex, Monmouth and Mercer counties could see a few inches.

Speed restrictions are in effect on the New Jersey Turnpike and Atlantic City Expressway.

NJ Transit is cross-honoring.
