Phoenix Police are investigating a crash that left a lawn worker in the hospital.

Investigators say a 17 year-old driving blue Ford Mustang ran a stop sign on Earl, and crashed into an Orkin Pest Control Truck driving south.

The teen was allegedly racing a 16 year-old driver when the crash happened on 52nd Street. That 16 year-old, driving a Chevy Avalanche, fled the scene.

"This is a 30 mile per-hour street but people do speed on this street, that's too bad," said Kelly Oglesby.

"This is a very fast street, extremely fast, I would guess people go by here 60, 70 miles an-hour all the time," said another neighbor.

The Orkin truck after the crash collided with a lawn service worker who was rushed to an area hospital.

"It's too bad I'm sorry for the gentleman who got ran over who was moving the lawn," said Oglesby.

"The victim was outside in the yard doing landscaping work when the pickup truck passed through the fence and struck him, and again that man was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

During the crash, the Mustang was traveling at such a high rate of speed that one of the tires flew off the car hitting a truck behind a palm tree in the yard.

Phoenix Police are looking for the driver of the Avalanche. They say both teens will face aggravated assault and endangerment charges.
