House explodes in northwest Detroit, shakes neighborhood

DETROIT (WJBK) - Six people have been injured in a house explosion in northeast Detroit, FOX 2 has learned.

A 18-month-old girl and a 2-year-old boy are in critical condition. Three adults in their 20s were also taken to the hospital. At this time FOX 2 has not learned any identification on the sixth victim.

The house is near Manning and Fairport streets, which is near the intersection of East State Fair and Scheonherr streets.

Sources on the scene say early investigations point to a leaky gas line, and the stove may have been being used to heat the home.

DTE Energy says gas services were discontinued at the home February 18 at the homeowner's request. DTE is working with authorities during the investigation.
