Man Accused Of Poisoning His Mom With Generator Fumes

BENSALEM, Pa. -

A 59-year-old woman was pulled from an apartment full of toxic fumes after her son allegedly poisoned her.

30-year-old Koustantinos Yimbillis is still in the hospital tonight under police guard, recovering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

He has been charged with killing his own mother with a gas generator, but neighbors believe it may have been a suicide pact gone wrong

"It just broke my heart to see what was actually happening, you don't come home from work and expect to see your neighbor being resuscitated," friend Jessica Shaffery said.

Bensalem police say Koustantinos Yimbillis used a gas generator inside his apartment to intentionally kill his mother. Police responded to Longmeadow Apartments after neighbors at the apartments smelled fumes. Koustantino's answered the door, but his mother Karen Yiambillis was on the floor unconscious. She died later at the hospital.

"In my opinion they did this together because they had nothing left. They lost everything," one neighbor said.

When asked if she thought it was a suicide pact she said, "Yes I do."

A next door neighbor who didn't want to go on camera tells us Karen Yiambillis borrowed her gas generator yesterday morning, saying their power went out.

It turns out the apartment never lost electric, and neighbors say notes written by both of them were found.

Four other apartments had to be evacuated because of the fumes. Police won't comment on the motive, but say Koustantinos' put a lot of people in danger.

"It definitely put neighbors in the complex at risk of them being overcomes by the fumes," Bensalem Police Sergeant Andrew Anninsman said.

Friends tell us Koustantino loved his mother, and they were seen together often.

However, both had fallen on hard times. Friends say he suffered a major head injury and she was out of work.

They're finding it hard to understand.

Yiambillis was arraigned bedside at Aria Torresdale Hospital. He's being held with no bail here before being transported to Bucks County prison.
