PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

He was known as The Ultimate Warrior. The pro wrestler collapsed outside of a Scottsdale hotel Tuesday night and later died. A day later and fans are mourning the loss.

James Brian Helwig was his name before he had it changed to warrior in the 1990's; he was 54 years old, married and had two daughters with ties to the valley.

These days it's New York Bagels and Bialys on Scottsdale road near Shea, but it used to be Warrior University, The Ultimate Warrior's training club.

It's gone now, but traces remain.

"This is a set of lockers we saved. We pulled it all out of here. There were steam rooms and showers and a pool that was all filled in,"

Where the steam room was is where the bagels are made now.

"The ring would have been out in the main dining room just right outside there, right in the center,"

Folks at the deli grew up during the Warrior's heyday.

"We all rooted for Hulk Hogan at the time because that is what you did when you were a kid. I remember that Ultimate was the nemesis, the one he fought,"

The Ultimate Warrior collapsed and died at the Gainey Suites Hotel, so close by, so suddenly, it makes everyone sad.

The Ultimate Warrior died while walking to his car in the parking lot of hotel.

He had a long breakup with World Wrestling Entertainment or better known as WWE, but the two sides had recently patched things up.
