A family shattered by the pain of losing a child is now distressed by the confusion surrounding his final resting place.
The McClary family had to bury 6-month-old ‘Kash’ in January at Memorial Park in Gainesville.
His mother, Sally McClary, tells FOX 5 she went to visit her son Tuesday night and found another baby’s headstone on Kash’s grave. McClary says she can't even be certain her son is in the right resting place.
"It was a tombstone for a little girl right on my son's grave," said McClary.
Billy Hendrix with Memorial Park Cemetery admits the grave marker may have been placed a few inches off of where it should have been.
McClary says she now wonders if any of those buried in this children's cemetery are in the proper spot.
Cemetery managers say they've offered to give the family a grave marker, but McClary tells FOX 5 she plans to exhume her son's body and have him cremated.
In addition to the misplaced headstone, the family tells FOX 5 other items were removed from the grave including flowers and toys.
