Ten men have been charged with Cruelty to Animals after deputies raided a property in Banks County.
All ten men were bonded out of jail, but are charged in connection with a rooster fighting operation.
Investigators found fighting equipment, weapons and money in a barn off Marion Cape Road. Banks County sheriff investigators say they never saw any cattle, horses or chickens, just roosters with razor barbs on their legs ready to fight.
The 36 birds seized in the case appeared to have been injected with performance enhancing drugs and fitted with spurs.
Authorities say they were putting money on the roosters betting which one would win the fight and having them fight until death.
The birds were turned over to the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
According to the Banks County Sheriff's Office, they tried hard to save the fighting birds. They were working with rescue groups and other methods, but in the end all of them had to be euthanized.
