GALESBURG, Mich. (WJBK) -  An Amtrak passenger train on its way to metro Detroit from Chicago was put on hold late Monday night after an accident.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department says the train hit and killed a person on the tracks in Galesburg.

According to Amtrak's website, the train was supposed to arrive in Detroit just before 9:30 p.m. Passengers are not expected to arrive until at least midnight.

The train was parked at the scene while police finish the investigation. It began traveling again just before 10:30 p.m.

An Amtrack employee tells Fox 2 none of the passengers or crew members onboard the train were injured.
