Turner Field hosts naturalization ceremony

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Nearly 1,100 people became U.S. citizens at a special naturalization ceremony at the home of the Braves.

The ceremony Wednesday at Turner Field was part of an annual celebration of Independence Day by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The agency is welcoming about 7,800 new citizens in more than 95 naturalization ceremonies around the country this week.

The nearly 1,100 people who took the Oath of Allegiance at Turner Field come from more than 80 countries.

For the first time this year, USCIS is asking new citizens and their families and friends to share their naturalization experiences and photos by using a special Twitter hashtag, #newUScitizen.
