Independence Day falls on a Friday this year, meaning many of us can celebrate on our nation's birthday without worrying how late it is.
Here's the list of events in the area. A few are on Thursday but most are on Friday night.
TAMPA - CHANNELSIDE
Friday, July 4th - Independence Day Fireworks Show
Come celebrate with one of the biggest and best 4th of July celebrations in Tampa at the Channelside Bay Plaza and surrounding areas. Expect live music, entertainment, and the best fireworks display in Tampa kicking off at 9:15p.m. right on the water. This is a family friendly event but please note that there will not be any children's activities.
The best place to see the fireworks is from the wharf, but be warned, it's limited to the first 3,500 people. Garrison Street Gate will open at 7:00 pm. Parking will be available at the garage across the street from the complex or in open lots between Channelside and Tampa Bay Times Forum.
St. Petersburg’s Official Fourth of July Celebration gets underway at 9 p.m. Friday. Fireworks could begin as early as 8:30 or as late as 10 p.m., depending on the weather. Fireworks are visible from Bayshore Dr. with prime viewing locations from Vinoy, North and South Straub, Spa Beach and Albert Whitted Parks.
July 4 - TB Rowdies vs. FTL Strikers
Al Lang Stadium, 6:30 pm
The match will kick off at Al Lang Stadium at 6:30 p.m. The first 500 fans (aged 21 and over) to arrive for the showdown with the Strikers will receive a free plastic Budweiser beer mug. Following the game, fans are invited to gather on the field for a spectacular view of the City of St. Petersburg’s fireworks display.
The community is invited to attend Clearwater Celebrates America on Friday, July 4th at Coachman Park, 301 Drew Street, to celebrate Independence Day.
Clearwater Celebrates America is a free event and includes a Stars & Squirts Kid's Zone from 5 to 9 p.m. with free crafts, games, and a mascot parade. At 7:30 p.m. musical entertainment will be provided by Mostly Pops Orchestra featuring The Wilsons. The grand finale occurs at 9:30 p.m. during Clearwater Gas System Spark the Sky fireworks display.

Fireworks will cap an evening of games, music and food at Plant City Stadium, 1810 E. Park Road. The fun is from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Parking is $5 and there's no admission charge.
Weather permitting, the on-field activities, all free, will include inflatables, face painting, balloon art, corn hole bean bag toss and a children's craft center. New this year will be a rock-climbing wall and bungee jumping on a trampoline.
Food will be sold at stadium concession stands and vendors on the perimeter of the field.
The 20-minute fireworks show starts at 9:15 p.m.
Parking is available only in the stadium parking lot, and entry is from East Park Road only. No parking will be allowed near the complex along Park Road, Jim Johnson Road and Gordon Food Service Drive. Following the fireworks, event traffic will flow one-way away from the complex as vehicles exit the parking lots onto Park Road and Gordon Food Service Drive.
No coolers or any glass or open containers of any beverages will allowed into the stadium. No alcohol is allowed on the property.

Temple Terrace’s Independence Day Parade will take place Friday, July 4, 2014 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The parade will start at the corner of White way Drive and Gillette Avenue. The parade will head south on Gillette, west on Druid Hills, then south on Ridgedale Road to the Ridgedale Sports Complex near Temple Terrace Elementary School.
Evening festivities will start at 7 p.m. on the first fairway of the Temple Terrace golf course, between Belle Terre and Woodmont avenues. There will be a variety of food vendors, live music by the Cypress Creek Dixieland Band , face painting and a performance by Masque Community Theatre.
Fireworks will light up the sky at 9:15 p.m. and can be viewed from the first fairway of the golf course. Lawn chairs and blankets are OK, but please do not bring personal fireworks of any kind to the golf course!
Free parking is available in the vicinity of Bullard Parkway and 56th Street and on residential streets except where “No Parking” signs are posted.
Celebrate July 4th from 6pm to 9pm at the Brandon Blast event. There will be fireworks, live music, great food, family fun and a chance to win a $500 Westfield Shopping Spree!

City officials said fireworks will be shot off in the intercoastal, just north of the 150th Causeway, and advised beachgoers to consider watching from the intercoastal side for a better view.
Hometown USA Celebration at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium Ballgame begins 4:15pm, with a live concert following the game. Live performance by "The Greg Billings Band."

The City of Gulfport invites everyone to celebrate this 4th of July celebration ALL DAY LONG with an amazing line-up of fun and exciting activities in the City's downtown waterfront district on Friday, July 4.
Get up, have your coffee and breakfast early and bring the kids to the Kid's Fishing Derby, at the Recreation Center seawall, from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. (Registration for the derby will start at 7:30 A.M.) followed by a Free Family Sand Sculpture Contest, sponsored by the Gulfport Recreation Division, on Gulfport Beach, from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. (Registration will start at 11:15 A.M.). Keeping with tradition, the theme will be "Red, White and Blue". City staff will be on Gulfport Beach behind the Recreation Center from noon to 6 P.M. with a variety of FREE kid friendly activities!
Starting the evening, local vendors offer a variety of arts, crafts, food delicacies and patriotic knick-knacks for your enjoyment, from 2 - 10 P.M. At 5 P.M., enjoy live music on the Casino outside main stage. Our community parade will begin promptly at 6 P.M. making its way (southbound) down Beach Boulevard to the Gulfport Casino, where it will head west on Shore Boulevard to 58th Street South. Make sure to grab a good viewing spot!
At 9:15 P.M. an always amazing fireworks display off of Gulfport Beach along Shore Blvd. S. will offer an exceptional closing of the day's festivities. The City of Lakeland is pleased to announce that the T.Mims Corp. Red, White & Kaboom Independence Celebration will take place with live music at Lake Mirror along the Frances Langford Promenade on Thursday, July 3rd from 6:00 p.m. - 9 p.m. with a breathtaking fireworks display dazzling the crowd at 9 p.m.
During Red, White & Kaboom there will be a variety of food and drink vendors around Lake Mirror so bring a blanket and enjoy the festivities in celebrating our great nation.

Bayfront Fireworks Spectacular
Location: Bayfront Island Park at the Marina
Fireworks will go off at approx. 9pm.
Selby Gardens' annual Tropical 4th of July Celebration will offer a night of fun for the whole family. The fireworks display at Island Park is a popular local tradition. Selby Gardens not only offers prime viewing locations, but plenty of kid-friendly activities such as lawn games and the always popular bounce house to pass the time waiting for the nocturnal display. An estimated one thousand guests enjoy the show each year from Selby Gardens' vantage point.
Guests can also enjoy laid-back live music from Impulse and a variety of outdoor fare, including barbecue, popcorn, ice cream and adult beverages.
Friday, July 4, 2014; 6 p.m. until the fireworks end
