Warren man to face murder charge in wife's death

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Mich. (AP) -- A Warren man has been arraigned in the strangulation of his wife whose body was buried in northern Michigan.

Loyd Dejohn appeared Thursday in Warren District Court on first-degree murder, disinterment of a body and aggravated domestic violence charges.

A judge entered a not guilty plea on Dejohn's behalf and scheduled an Aug. 28 pre-trial conference.

The 46-year-old has been in custody since May 30 on an assault charge related to 51-year-old Kimberly Dejohn, who disappeared in mid-May. Her body was discovered June 18 in a shallow grave in Cheboygan County's Koehler Township, 220 miles northwest of Detroit.

The Associated Press left a message Thursday seeking comment from Tim Barkovic, Loyd Dejohn's attorney.

Loyd Dejohn is being held on a $1 million bond.
