Cass Community Social Services creating jobs with coaster project

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -  Cass Community Social Services in Detroit is using reclaimed wood and scrap glass to make coaster sets and wooden holders.

The coasters have pictures of graffiti on them from The Wailing Wall, which is near Eight Mile Road and Wyoming Street. The wall was initially built to keep people of different races apart.

Other coaster sets have images of popular Detroit landmarks.

In a year and a half, they've sold $15,000 dollars worth. The more they sell the more jobs they create.

The coasters can also be customized for any school, business, event or individual (think baby photos, wedding photos, etc.).
