Search for Detroit barber continues after customer stabbed in neck

DETROIT (WJBK) - A person has been stabbed at a barber shop in Detroit, according to police.

Police tell Fox 2 the stabbing happened shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday at Bang 'N Blends Barbershop.

We're told a barber got into an argument with a 74-year-old customer, pulled out something sharp and cut the older man multiple times.

"An employee had a bad situation and took a drink of Red Bull, turned around and stabbed a visitor, a customer, with a pair of scissors in the neck," says Muhsin Muhammed, who does security in the Grandmont neighborhood.

The suspect ran away along westbound Grand River and authorities are still searching for him.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Fox 2's Ron Savage reports no one appears to know why the attack happened.

The barbershop closed during the investigation but reopened later in the afternoon.

Savage reports police know who the employee is and are continuing to look for him.
