Judge in Bashara case shares frustrations over trial delays

(WJBK) - It's the trial that seems as though it's never going to start.

Bob Bashara is accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife, Jane, back in January of 2012.

Lawyers for both sides bickered in court Friday, leading to Judge Vonda Evans admonishing all of the attorneys for wasting the court's time.

"I am a judge and you are lawyers. I am not a referee in a little league game, and I refuse to allow this trial to go down that path," she said.

"Unacceptable" seemed to be the word of the day for Judge Evans.

"To bring this motion because you all as lawyers cannot agree on evidence is unacceptable and I'm going to say this to you - it's not going to keep going like this because just like I put this defense team together, I'll dismantle it," Evans said.

That would mean even more delays in a case that many say has already taken way too long.

Judge Evans told the attorneys this case is going to trial October 6. The next hearing scheduled in this case is in September.
