GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Gwinnett County firefighters were called out to several house fires Friday night.

Fire crews arrived and found heavy fire coming from the attic area of a large two story wood frame house in Buford. The home is located on the 900 block of Creekview Bluff Way.

The homeowner tells FOX 5 this is the second time the Buford home has been struck by lightning in five years.

The fire caused moderate damage to the attic area, with smoke and water damage to portions of the main level, according to the Gwinnett County Fire Department.

Fire crews were also called out to a one-story house fire in Hoschton. The home is located on the 4400 block of Kings Cross Way. Officials say the fire displaced two adults and one child.

The Gwinnett Fire Department says both blazes were sparked by lightning strikes during a strong thunderstorm Friday night.
