GreenDrop Raises Funds For Charitable Causes

Are you wondering how to get rid of your old items and help your community? Well, GreenDrop may be a good option for you. GreenDrop is transforming old gas stations and turning them into drop off sites for clothing and household items.

Plus, there's someone actually there to help you unload your stuff.

The company started in Bensalem, PA. In just the past few years, they've already grown to more than a dozen locations in our area.

When you drive up to GreenDrop, someone helps you unload your belongings into a bin and they give you a receipt.

When Pamela Sodi was downsizing, GreenDrop made her move a lot simpler.

“This is the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Come and take it, unload your stuff for you, you don' t need to get out of car if you don't want to, made it easy to donate,” she said.

So far, they've already raised 2.5 million dollars for Purple Heart and the National Federation of the Blind in just 2 years.

Tony Peressini says recycled gas stations work well because they have great storage, are in high traffic areas that are easy to get too, and you know your stuff won't get damaged in a bin.

GreenDrop tries to hire veterans like Michael Williams.

“Knowing the company honors the Purple Heart Foundation, and me being a Navy veteran, I think they are absolutely wonderful," he said.

At the Broomall location, they fill a truckload every week. FOX 29 saw a steady stream of people with pick-ups full of things.

Next up, a concierge service where they'll come to your house for bigger furniture and they’ll even help back your stuff. All still will be free of charge, but you'll need an appointment.
