Police: Unidentified man was former Gwinnett Schools employee

UPDATE: Gwinnett authorities released this statement early Thursday: "On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, Investigators with the Special Victims Unit positively identified “John Doe” as 62 year old, John Philip Rogers of Duluth. Mr. Rogers lived in the area where he was found and it was reported that he would take long walks or bike rides on a daily basis. It was also learned that Mr. Rogers was a retired Gwinnett County School employee and lived by himself with no family in the immediate area. Mr. Rogers has a son that lives in California and he flew and positively identified Mr. Rogers yesterday afternoon."

Gwinnett Police are asking for help in identifying a male that was found having a serious medical injury on Tuesday and has since passed away.

Gwinnett Police released an image of the man being treated at the hospital before he passed away Friday around noon.

Emergency crews responded to a call and found a male in cardiac arrest on South Old Peachtree Road near Lou Ivy Road.

The man was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth.

Police describe the man as weighing 150-160 pounds, 5 feet, 9-inches tall and appears to be in his fifties. The man has a distinctive scar on his left arm that appears to be from a prior surgery.

According to police, he may drive a 1998-2002 Toyota.

His identity remains unknown and anyone with information is asked to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300.
