Police: Man shoots wife, daughter

AUSTELL, Ga. - Investigators are trying to determine what lead a Cobb County man to shoot his wife and teenage daughter at their home Saturday afternoon.

Police arrested Clarence Washington, 43, of Austell, for the shooting at a home on Stonecrest Drive on Saturday. Cobb County Police Department spokesperson Mike Bowman says they were called to the residence just before 4 p.m. after receiving a 911 call of shots being fired and a domestic disturbance.

Officer arrived to find the Washington's wife and teenage daughter shot. Both were rushed to the hospital. Their conditions were not available Sunday evening, but police say the daughter underwent surgery for her injuries and both were recovering.

Police say Washington fled the scene after the shooting, but officer were able to quickly catch up to him and arrest him during a traffic stop.

Washington is being charged with two counts each of Aggravated Assault with the Intent to commit Murder and Aggravated Battery. He was taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
