CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -

Authorities say a man shot and killed his wife, then shot himself at a New Jersey hospital around 9:25 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Police say Raymond Wychowanec, 63, visited his wife, Denise, 62, in her hospital room at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford where she was a patient.

According to investigators, Raymond shot his wife multiple times in the hospital room, and then turned the gun on himself.

Denise was pronounced dead.  Raymond was taken to the trauma center at Cooper Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police say they conducted a well-being check on the couple's Gloucester Township home after the shooting where they discovered the couple's son, Ryan Wychowanec,35, was also shot dead.

Neighbors say the family was quiet and kept to themselves. According to neighbors, they have seen police at the residence before. They also say Denise was a former nurse practitioner until she became confined to a wheelchair after suffering from back and neck injuries. She was in and out of the hospital for years.

Police are still investigating and working to confirm if the two shootings are related. In the meantime, Penn Medicine where Ryan worked as a resource technologist for more than a decade says it is shocked by his senseless death.

Kennedy Hospital says they're reviewing their safety procedures.
