FULL PRESS CONFERENCE | Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is launching an investigation into Potassium Bromate in Florida foods. Potassium Bromate is a dough strengthener, flour treating agent, leavening agent, and oxidizing or reducing agent, according to the FDA's website.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier revealed Monday that his office would launch an investigation into Potassium bromate, a food additive in flour and dough, in the Florida food supply. Uthmeier and other health experts said some studies have found Potassium bromate to be a possible carcinogen, or potentially cancer-causing in humans.

During Operation Southern Slow Down, the Marion County Sheriff's Office commits its enforcements efforts to address speeding. With a goal of zero traffic crashes from July 13 through July 18, the county has had 37 deaths this year. 

Over 100 sex offenders are back behind bars after failing to comply with requirements after their release.  In a joint effort between the Osceola County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal Task Service, 126 people were served warrants for failing to comply with registry requirements. Now, they're facing new felonies. 

FULL PRESS CONFERENCE | Osceola County Sheriff Chris Blackmon updated the public on the shooting of a two-year-old boy in a Kissimmee neighborhood on July 12. Blackmon reported the boy was shot after a 4-year-old family member got ahold of an unsecured gun. 

FULL PRESS CONFERENCE | A joint effort spanning multiple law enforcement agencies across southern states -- including Florida, Georgia and South Carolina -- to reduce speeds and crashes. The effort, Operation Southern Slowdown, is in effect from July 13, 2026 through July 18, 2026.

"Public roads are not designed for racing." Officials at the Daytona Beach Speedway on July 13 advocated for making the roads safer this summer by encouraging drivers to adhere to the speed limits. 

A two-year-old child is dead after he was rushed to the hospital on July 12, following a shooting at a Kissimmee apartment complex. No suspects have been publicly identified at this time. 

Isaiah Irizarry was riding a scooter home and was less than a mile from safety when a vehicle struck two teens and fled the scene. Because of how quickly law enforcement was able to locate his guardian, Isaiah's family is now turning his choice into a message for parents everywhere – Isaiah’s IDea.

Starting July 15, Blue Spring State Park will only allow visitors with an online reservation to enter. This decision comes after long lines and crowds during the summer months to enjoy outdoor recreation. Visitors can reserve a spot up to 60 days in advance. 

Michael Millett, 8, was tragically attacked and killed by two loose dogs while riding his bike in a Deland neighborhood in January 2025.   His mother, Tiffani Connell, said last year they gathered enough supplies to allow for 25 children to start the school year off on the right foot. This year, she’s hoping to double that number.
