Andrew was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy when he was two and a half years old. When he was nine years old, he lost his ability to walk. He now works on the adult advisory council at Cure SMA and shares his story at speaking events to help bring awareness to his condition and give those with similar conditions someone to look up to. Andrew's story will air on FOX's Big Noon Kickoff on Saturday between 11:15 and 11:30.

An Orlando woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly beat and confined her elderly stepmother. Officials have been called to the home where the woman was arrested several times in the last few months for domestic-related incidents and threats, according to Orange County court records. The alleged victim, who lived at the home, was taken to the hospital after being found with multiple injuries. According to an arrest report, the elderly woman had contusions on her eye, chin and cheek, as well as severe swelling on her face and lacerations on her hand, forearm and elbow. The woman told investigators that she had been beaten by her stepdaughter, 55-year-old Cheryl Pyle, and her boyfriend, who both moved into her home in December 2024, shortly after her husband died.

The Florida Attorney General has filed a $2.5M lawsuit against a Massachusetts man accused of scamming Florida students with a hoax international trip. Officials allege that the 56-year-old man scammed students and chaperones out of international trips.

People who live along the Florida Coastline have been pumping water all day as heavy rains hit the area causing some flooding.

It has been three months since Florida's "Super Speeder" law went into effect, increasing penalties for people who drive over 100 mph or 50 mph over the posted speed limit. Under the law, drivers can be cuffed and arrested. FOX 35 reached out to various agencies to see how many people have been arrested under the new law.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia took a poetic approach to his criticism of alleged spending by some cities and counties in the state, part of the Florida DOGE team's financial audits of those cities. Ingoliga and Gov. Ron DeSantis discussed the findings of the Florida DOGE audit during a press conference on Wednesday. "Stop waste" read the sign on the podium. "These audits have uncovered many irresponsible uses of taxpayer funds. It's unconscionable for local governments to raise taxes on Floridians in order to subsidize wasteful spending," Gov. Desantis said in a statement, noting that Florida's DOGE team has visited 12 cities and counties in the state "to seek out waste, fraud, and abuse."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office released the incident report from the night first responders arrived at Universal's Epic Universe theme park after a 32-year-old man -- later identified as Kevin Rodriguez Zavala -- became unresponsive while on the Stardust Racers coaster and died. The new report details the response time, timeline, and where Zavala was on the ride. Zavala died from blunt force injuries, the Orange County Medical Examiner determined.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia scrutinized several cities' and counties' spending in Florida discovered through the state's DOGE efforts, including Jacksonville, Orlando, Gainesville, Orange County. In Orlando, he questioned the funding for Orlando's Poet Laureate program, hot yoga classes for employees, and some other training programs.
