Ukrainian president presents battle flag to U.S. Congress

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked "every American" for their support of Ukraine as he delivered an address to Congress on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022. Zelenskyy received a thunderous ovation from legislators when he presented Congress with a battle flag signed from the city of Bakhmut in Ukraine's contested Donetsk province. Zelenskyy said he was asked to deliver the flag on behalf of "those who defend Ukraine, Europe, and the world." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi then presented Zelenskyy with an American flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol Building on the day of his visit.
