Sheriff Chitwood: Deputy who crashed vehicle into pond was being stupid

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said one of his deputies caused more than $70,000 in damages after apparently speeding through a curve, losing control, and crashing his patrol vehicle into a retention pond. He added that the deputy would be removed from any special assignments, such as SWAT or K-9.
