A giant alligator was trapped in an Orlando, Florida neighborhood on Monday morning.

Richmond Estates resident Tonya Walton got close enough to capture the 11-foot alligator on her cell phone, but when she noticed it started to move, she put a little distance between her and the big reptile.

“I better back up too,” laughed Walton.

A family nearby discovered the gator in their backyard, which backs up to a large pond, where the animal was sitting in the water.

“I was nervous at first but then when I realized they had that trap, I was fine,” Walton said.

“This is the reason why we have this high fence in your yard, because we started having more gators! So now, we have the high fence,” said neighbor Annie Ferguson.

A trapper was called to catch the gator.  Residents say it’s not the first one they’ve seen.

“We have these all the time, so it’s plenty more out there," Ferguson said.  "We sit on our patio and watch gators float by the lake.”
