2 dead in crash in near Mascotte

MASCOTTE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Two people are dead following a car crash in Lake County.  The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that a suspect crashed while being pursued by law enforcement. Troopers had shut down roadways near County Road 33 and W. Cardinal Pines Drive, to investigate the scene. 

The driver of a black Cadillac, a woman, died after being transported to a hospital.  The FHP said she was struck by a vehicle driven by another woman who was being followed by Lake County sheriff's deputies.  Law enforcement officers placed stop sticks in the path of the woman being pursued, two tires deflated, the car veered across the center line and struck the Cadillac.  The driver being pursued died at the scene.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released. This is a developing story.  Check back for updates.
