An Orlando school was placed on lockdown after three men were shot, in broad daylight, outside an apartment complex.  Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff's Office believe this was a targeted act and that the suspect, or suspects, knew the victims.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses of the incident at Andover Place Apartments.  Residents said they heard gunfire around 11 a.m. on Monday.  When deputies arrived, they found three men inside a car, all having suffered gunshot wounds -- at least one of them appeared to have life-threatening injuries.  Crime scene technicians found bullet casings in the complex and on Rio Grande Blvd.

Neighbors said they ran for cover after hearing the shots.   "I woke up. I threw something in my garbage can. On my way coming back, I heard a couple of gunshots and just went back into the house with my wife," said Frankie Pina.  "I waited till everything settled down."

"I cannot tell you where the shots started or where they ended, but apparently there were multiple shots, possibly from this other vehicle," explained Lourdes Clayton with the Sheriff's Office, "so it could have been a running gun battle, I don't know. That is still something they will look at all the evidence on scene."

Palmetto Elementary School waa placed on lockdown as a result of the police activity, but it was later lifted.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to contact Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
