ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - SeaWorld Orlando announced that one of their orcas has died.
They say that 30-year-old Kayla, a female orca, died on Monday morning. She reportedly began showing signs of discomfort on Saturday afternoon. Veterinarians immediately began treatment, but her condition continued to worsen into Sunday.
Kayla received around the clock attention, SeaWorld says. Unfortunately though, the orca passed away. Her animal care specialists were by her side for her final moments.
SeaWorld says that the orca's exact cause of death is not yet known. A post-mortem examination must be completed first.
