Badly burned officer battles back, returns to work after months of recovery

Clermont police officer Kris Kruse was badly burned on Super Bowl Sunday when a gas can exploded near a bonfire.  He suffered burns over 65 percent of his body.  Now, the 22-year-old Kruse is back at work.

Kruse remained hospitalized for three months and had a 50-50 change of survival, according to his caregivers.  Five months after returning home for recovery, and after more months of grueling physical therapy, doctors said he was able to return to the job he loves.

"Heaven's gates were flooded with prayers," he told us, "so someone was listening."
